We’re taking a little time off this week, but you don’t have to! You can put your Memorial Day to good use by watching these romantic comedies before they’re abandoned in a Netflix-free wasteland on June 1:
About a Boy (2002)
Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)
Groundhog Day (1993)
Jersey Girl (2004)
My Boss’s Daughter (2003)
Nine Months (1995)
View from the Top (2003)
And if you’re a fan of binging romantic comedy themed sitcoms, you can check out the first and only season of Mixology before it leaves on June 21. We hear it’s AWFUL, so, you know…enjoy!
There aren’t a lot of new rom-coms coming in June, sadly, but if you’re really in the mood for something new here are our completely un-romantic and completely un-funny recommendations out of the new movies coming to Netflix in June.
Brendan’s Pick: Cold in July
A hardboiled potboiler from genre maven Jim Mickle, Cold In July is a great piece of indie filmmaking with some killer performances and intense atmosphere
Shiran’s Pick: Spotlight
In case you missed it during Oscar season, come June 22 you can stream Spotlight, which managed to be two of my favorite things in one: a good movie about good journalism. Good luck ever seeing the word “spotlight” without hearing Michael Keaton’s Boston accent in your head ever again.
